VI International Conference "Prospects for the Introduction of Innovations in Nuclear Energy" — Witkowitz Atomica and Synergoatom Among Key Partners

On September 26-27, 2024, the VI International Scientific and Technical Conference "Prospects for the Introduction of Innovations in Nuclear Energy" was held in the Grand Conference Hall of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv.

The event was organized by the Ukrainian Nuclear Society, the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of the NAS of Ukraine, and the Council of Young Scientists under the Department of Energy and Energy Technologies of the NAS of Ukraine.

Witkowitz Atomica and Synergoatom served as key partners and sponsors of the conference, alongside SE "NAEC Energoatom", Energy Safety Group, Phoenix Contact Ukraine, Atomkompleksprylad, Impulse, and the Ukrainian Society for Optics and Photonics.

Over 200 participants registered for the event, with about 100 experts actively contributing. The plenary session was opened by:

  • Volodymyr Kholosha — President of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society
  • Yuriy Sheiko — First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine
  • Anatoliy Nosovsky — Academician of NAS of Ukraine, Director of ISP NPP
  • Oleksandr Khomych — Chief Shift Supervisor of the Khmelnytskyi NPP

Key topics included:

  • Construction of new power units at Khmelnytskyi NPP using AP1000 technology
  • Small modular reactors (SMR) deployment potential in Ukraine
  • Nuclear and hydrogen cogeneration
  • Probabilistic safety analysis and life extension of existing NPP units
  • Spent nuclear fuel management and cybersecurity

The conference provided an important platform for intersectoral cooperation aimed at strengthening Ukraine's nuclear sector during the challenging conditions of ongoing military actions.
